Aisling Annacotty 2 : Corbally 0
13th September 2010
Anyone who doubts the fighting spirit of this Aisling Annacotty u11a team should have been at Annacotty on Monday evening to see them battle against atrocious weather conditions and a very spirited Corbally side to register their 2nd win out of their first 3 outings this year to remain unbeaten in this years campaign. The 1st half saw Aisling playing into fierce wind and rain and although Corbally had probably the better of the early exchanges, it was Aisling who took the lead when a fine cross from Conor Lyons ended up in the back of the Corbally net, with their defence under severe pressure from Sean Feeney and Sam Burns. For the remainder of the half, Aisling put Corbally under a lot of pressure with Sam Burns in particular causing them huge problems with his skilful running at the defence. Aisling's midfield pairing of Shane Donegan and Ciaran Barry fought hard for every ball and Darragh Cullimore and David Moloney mopped up everything that came through aided in no small way by Daniel Minehan and Cathal Carew. As both teams welcomed the half time whistle, it was Aisling who went in 1 - 0 ahead.
Despite playing into a stiff breeze in the 2nd half, it was Corbally who had the better of the first 15 minutes with the Aisling defence under severe pressure at times, but aided by their midfield, the back four held solid and restricted Corbally to some long range efforts which James Regan Magnier dealt with quite easily and slowly Aisling started getting a foothold on the game in the last quarter. Aisling brought on Alex O' Donoghue for Sean Feeney, replaced their tiring captain on the night, Ciaran Barry with Conall McAteer and put the game beyond doubt with a fine finish on the rebound from Sam Burns to make it 2 - 0 when the Corbally keeper failed to hold a fierce shot from Alex O' Donoghue. On the night it was probably scoring the 2nd goal and for his brilliant dribbling, given the conditions, which made Sam Burns man of the match, though in truth the award could have been given to any member of the team, with heroic displays given by the whole team and especially in defence.
Aisling Annacotty: James Regan Magier, Daniel Minehan , David Moloney, Darragh Cullimore, Cathal Carew, Conor Lyons, Shane Donegan, Ciaran Barry (capt), Sean Feeney, Eoin O' Shea, Sam Burns, Alex O' Donoghue, Conor Nicholas, Cian Mulcahy, Conall McAteer.

Shannon Town 2 - Aisling Annacotty 7
11th September 2010
A very clinical and energetic display saw Aisling get a comprehensive away win against Shannon Town with a score line of 7 - 2 on Saturday 11th September. Aisling hit the field running from the start and with wingers Conor Lyons and Sean Feeney winning everything and causing Shannon huge problems down the flanks it was no surprise early on when striker Eoin O' Shea latched onto a fine cross from Conor Lyons to give the Shannon keeper no chance from 5 yards out. This was closely followed by a fine display of passing which saw fellow front man Sam Burns score from close range to make it 2-0 to Aisling. With Aisling in total control in midfield and dominating all over the pitch, the 1st half was finished off with further goals from Conor Lyons, a second for Sam Burns and a fine shot from Sean Feeney from 10 yards out to leave Aisling 5 - 0 up at half time.
The Aisling management team of Brendan McAteer, Colm Donegan, Seamus Mulcahy and Terry Cullimore rang the changes at half time with Daniel Minehan, Darragh Cullimore and Alex O' Donoghue replacing Cathal Carew, David Moloney and Ciaran Barry. It was a much closer game in the 2nd half and Shannon got an early goal back on the break, but Aisling settled back down to make it 6 - 1 with a fine strike from Shane Donegan from outside the box. Shannon pulled another goal back before Aisling sent on Conor Nicholas and Niall O' Brien for Shane Donegan and Sam Burns and Niall justified his substitution with a fine poachers goal when the keeper failed to hold a cross from man of the match Conor Lyons. Overall Aisling can be very pleased with their display but they will have far sterner tests throughout the rest of the season and with Corbally and Regional coming up in the next week maybe they'll have a better idea after the next few games of where they are competitively.
Aisling Annacotty: James Regan Magier, Cian Mulcahy, Conall McAteer, David Moloney, Cathal Carew, Conor Lyons, Shane Donegan, Ciaran Barry, Sean Feeney, Eoin O' Shea, Sam Burns,Daniel Minehan, Darragh Cullimore, Alex O' Donoghue, Conor Nicholas, Niall O' Brien.

Great win for under 11s in Dennehy Brothers Cup
Aisling Annacotty Under 11 team travelled to Tralee to play in the Dennehy Brothers Cup last Saturday.
Leaving from outside Synotts in Annacotty, the 14 boys and their coaches and supporters headed on the rocky road to Tralee.
The weather was ideal as it was cloudy but dry and with some extremely pleasant evening sunshine late in the day.
Our first game would prove to be our hardest against Charleville from Cork. Aisling dominated the first half of the game but the early season's rustiness and wasteful finishing meant that the first half ended scoreless. In the second half Charleville pushed hard but a couple of fine saves from James Halas and fine defending from Dara Cullimore and Conor Lyons kept the Cork team at bay.
Shane Donegan,Conor Hayes and Ciaran Barry commanded the midfield for most of the game. Aisling were unlucky not to win.
Final score nil all , but this was not the last we would see of these particular Corkmen.
Next up were Geraldines from Limerick. A cracking game especially in the first half. Aisling scored the first goal when Alex O'Donoghue tucked away a neat finish. Ciaran Barry added a superb second and Aisling went in to cruise control. But Geraldines showed great spirit and cracked home a goal either side of half time to make it two a piece.
Up stepped Conor Nicholas to score a fine individual score from the kick off to make it 3-2.
Further goals from Cathal Carew with a fine shot from distance and Eoin O'Shea from a rebound from a Shane Donegan strike which struck the post made it a comfortable second half and with better finishing the scoreline could have been more. Niall O'Brien in attack, Alex O'Donoghue in midfield and Cian Mulcahy in defence contributed excellently to the improved performance in the second half.
The final game was against St Brendan's Park proved to be a difficult game.
Yet again Aisling wasted numerous scoring chances and were caught by a breakaway goal.It took a great strike from a Cathal Carew free kick to level the scores just before half time.
Aisling then dominated the second half and great strikes from Eoin O'Shea and Conor Hayes who used his speed to outflank the St Brendan's defence sealed a deserved victory.Sam Burns and Conall McAteer played very well in this game, helping Aisling to control the second half.
As both Aisling Annacotty and Charleville finished level on points the competition rules dictated that a penalty shoot-out would be used to decide the winners.
Up first for Aisling was Conor Hayes who slotted his penalty away with ease, then Conall McAteer who picked his spot expertly. Then the third up was Sam Burns who confidently stuck his penalty away. James Halas in goals saved two of the first three penalties.
Up stepped Conor Nicholas for penalty number four and Eoin O'Shea for number five but unfortunately neither of them could find the net to win the tournament and the penalty shoot-out went in to sudden death.
Dara Cullimore bravely stepped up and placed the ball right in to the corner.
James Halas saved the next penalty and the trophy was won by Aisling Annacotty and presented to the captain Conor Lyons. Hard luck to Charleville who were gallant opponents.
