AISLING ANNACOTTY 3 - CORBALLY UNITED 0
1st September 2010
Aisling Annacotty got their league campaign off to a flying start in the 11C league with a well deserved 3 – 0 victory over a good Corbally eleven. Played in Corbally on a fine end of summer’s evening. Aisling started the brightest and were putting the Corbally defence under pressure from the start.
Impressive performances in the midfield from Sean Coleman, Joe Griffin, Eric O’Neill and Joe Scully. They battled for everything and it wasn’t long before it paid off in the shape of a fine goal from Joe Griffin. This settled the Aisling side into a nice rhythm which produced results as we were 2 goals up just before the half time with another fine strike this time courtesy of Luke Connell.
Corbally came out a different team in the second half and put Aisling under a lot of pressure however the defence was up to the task. There was great team play on display from Patrick Griffin, Darragh McCrann, Craig Leahy and Jeff Hogan.
The game was put beyond Corbally’s reach with a fine strike from Dean Stritch to make it 3-0 who along with James Quinlan were continually putting the Corbally defence on the backfoot. This gave Aishling their first victory in competitive football.
