Match Reports
U13 Division 2
Geraldines 1 Aisling Annacotty 2
9th October 2010
Aisling came from behind to take the points in an evenly matched encounter in Garryowen Green on Saturday.
Geraldines had the best of the opening half. Eoghan Whittle at centre half with some last ditch tackles and Andrew Chan in goals dealing confidently with through balls from the Geraldines midfield did most to limit the Geradlines scoring to one well taken goal from the left winger half way through the half. As half time approached Aisling got in to the game and some good passing movements resulted in a couple of unconverted chances.
Asiling began the second half strongly. Donal McNamee and Jason Daly were dominating midfield and sent through a number of perfectly weighted balls for Shane Mullins and Frankie Flynn to run on to. Even when the Geraldines defence dealt with the initial danger, Shane and Frankie’s hard work ensured the clearance was under severe pressure. The domination paid dividends about 5 minutes into the half when Shane Mullins got on the end of a great pass form Donal McNamee and shot to the net under the onrushing keeper. Ten minutes latter a great ball through from Jason Daly was again finished by Shane Mullins for his sixth goal of the season (in four matches). The last ten minutes of the match was end to end stuff. Geradlines had a number of chances but the Aishling defence coped well. Shane Mullins had a couple of chances to get his hatrick – the first ended with a brave save from the Geradlines keeper. The second came from an excellent cross from Cian Enright on the right wing which was volleyed just over by Shane.
Aisling Annacotty: Andrew Chan, Alan Costelloe, David Madden, Sean Corcoran, Eoghan Whittle, Ben Belazi, Conor Hanrahan, Ian Coates, Donal McNamee, Jason Daly, Shane Mullins, Cian Enright, Frankie Flynn.

Aisling Annacotty B 0 Corbally United 1
11th September 2010
This was an evenly contested game that Corbally won with a well taken goal five minutes form the end.
The game was played on a wet pitch which made it difficult to move the ball on the ground. Despite the conditions Ian Coates, in particular, and Donal MacNamee in the midfield for Aisling created a number of good chances in the second half which the forwards failed to capitalise on. Corbally had a number of chances also and were thwarted by one excellent save from Andrew Chan in the first half. A Shane Mullins close range effort stuck in the mud in the Corbally goalmouth half way through the half. A scrambled clearance came to Ian Coates outside the box. Ian's blistering shot was then blocked on the line. Shortly afterwards a Davis Madden long range effort went just over. The Corbally centre forward then won the race for a well placed ball of the top and finished well in to the corner of the goal for the winner.
This Aisling team has now lost the opening two league games by one goal in very tight matches. A little more sharpness up front and some luck should see the results improve shortly.
Caherdavin Celtic B 2 Aisling Annacotty B 1
30th August 2010
Aisling Annacotty were unlucky not to capitalise on some good football last night in a lively encounter at Greenhills. If they showed a little more composure in front of both goals they would have at least achieved the draw that some excellent build up play deserved.
Aisling had the majority of chances in the first half but turned two down as Caherdavin were more clinical in front of the goals. Caherdavin were stronger for a while after the break but Andrew Chan in goals made one great save and was very assured in coming off his line to stifle a number of other Caherdavin attacks. Aishling then took over in midfield with Donal McNamee and Ben Belazzi dominating in the centre and Jason Daly and Conor Hanrahan causing serious problems down the wings. Shane Mullins pulled one back half way through the half when he slotted from ten yards or so following some frantic defending and clearing off the line. Aisling manufactured two or three more good chances before the end but all resulted in very narrow misses.
While there is some clear room for improvement, it was an encouraging start to the season against last years Division 3 runaway winners.
