Under 11 Premier Cup Semi Final
14th May 2010
Mungret Regional 0 : Aisling Annacotty 4
Aisling Annacotty advanced to the final of the under 11 Premier Division Cup following a comprehensive victory over league winners Mungret Regional. Following lasts weeks close encounter in the league playoff, another close match was expected but it turned out to be a one sided affair with Aisling dominating from start to finish.
Played in Mugret last Friday evening, Mungret started brightly and forced the Aisling keeper Sean Fitzpatrick into some early saves. However after ten minutes Darran Golden O’Mahoney found space on the edge of the area and his right footed shot found the bottom right hand corner of the net. Aisling continued to dominate the first half and Mark O’Dwyer on the left wing was causing a lot of problems for the Mungret defence. Soon after Aisling doubled their lead when Niall Lougran beat the offside trap and ran onto a Daragh O’Leary through ball before calmly sliding it past the advancing Mungret keeper. Aisling failed to add to the scoring in the first half despite creating numerous chances.
Playing with the wind and down a slight hill in the second half, Mungret threw everything at the Aisling goal, but the Aisling defence of Shane Carmody, Dara Neville, David Power and Daniel Enright held firm. Mungret created chances in this period through Clyde O’Connell and Colm Walsh but they were easily dealt with by Sean Fitzpatrick in the Aisling goal. After 15 minutes of the second half Niall Loughran ran onto an Eoghan Carew through ball to get his second of the game, and his fifth goal in two games. Aisling continued to dominate the game and added a fourth goal near the end when a left footed shot from Mark O’Dwyer found the bottom left hand corner.
Aisling now advance to the final, where they will play Coonagh United in Glenbrook on Friday evening.

With five minutes of the second half gone Megan Foley finally scored a well deserved goal. The pressure was applied and a second goal by Caroline Crotty soon followed. Connelly applied more pressure but the back line defense held firm and the goalie Laura Phelan took care of any loose balls. The midfield team of Susan Crotty,Kate Cosgrave, Jennifer Cummins and Jane Clohessy worked well . In the last ten minutes a third goal by Sarah Shortt sealed a well deserved victory . Aisling Annacotty AFC 5 - Corbally United 1
Aisling Annacotty progressed to the semi-final of the Under 12 Premier Cup last Saturday afternoon in Annacotty when they beat Corbally United in an entertaining clash. Played in beautiful sunshine on a good pitch Aisling had the better of the early exchanges and took the lead after 10 minutes when Peader Collins put Evan O Connor through and his low shot was well saved by the Corbally keeper but the ever aware Paul Sutton was on hand to tap the ball into the empty net. Aisling Annacotty added to there scoreline when persistent pressure by the home team ended with the ball on the edge of the right side of the area where Paul Suttons high cross somehow found the corner of the net, with the Corbally keeper beaten. The third came soon afterwards with a well taken corner by Conor Fleming was not cleared by the Corbally defence and Niall O Shea pounced and thumped the ball into the back of the net. The half ended with the home team well on top on a scoreline of 3 - 0.The second half Corbally came more into the match and created a couple of chances but good defence by the home team and the ever excellent Jack Barry kept them at bay. Aisling made a few subs early in the second half to freshen up things. The fourth goal came from a well taken corner again by Conor Fleming was not held properly by the Corbally keeper and ended up in the back of the net. Corbally got one back when some good attacking play put Dean Kirwan through and his shot went in off the post to pull one back for the away team. Aisling added to there tally near the end of the game when Evan O Connor set up Conor Fleming just outside the area and his well hit shot could not be kept out by the Corbally keeper who got a hand on it but the ball managed to find the net, to make the scoreline 5 - 1 to the home side. Last Minute Goal Denies Aisling League Title
Ballynanty Rovers won the u13 premier league title after a thrilling victory over Aisling Annacotty at Shelbourne Park last Wednesday. Aisling came in to this fixture one point ahead of their great rivals and knowing that a draw would be enough to wrap up the title. Ballynanty, on the other hand, had to win and, as might have been expected, started the game in really positive fashion. They owned the ball for the first 5 minutes, playing some lovely football and threatened to overwhelm the visitors. However, this Aisling side is very determined and they slowly grabbed control of the game with the midfield four of Cian O'Brien, Jack Cleary, Paddy Morrissey & Brian Donovan coming into their own. Aisling took the lead when a long ball from the superb Stuart Hoare was brilliantly controlled and driven to the bottom corner by Ronan Murphy. Ballynanty responded immediately and Keith O'Connell scored a fine goal after a great through-ball from Jamie Brommell. It was game on and Aisling really upped the tempo for the next 10 minutes and Ronan Murphy scored his second after a wonderful flowing move involving Jack Cleary, Brian Donovan & Conor Linehan. It was 2-1 to the visitors at half time and Aisling were in a very strong position but they knew that Ballynanty would throw everything at them in the second period and so it proved. Crucially, Ballynanty got an early goal after the restart when a cross from Neil Wallace was drive in at point blank range by Ryan Earls. This gave the home side a terrific lift and they dominated the game, exerting huge pressure on the Aisling rearguard where John Nicholas, Shane Doyle, Kieran Long & Stuart Hoare were absolutely outstanding. When they were beaten, Edward Doyle came to the rescue with a magnificient save from Neil Wallace. With just three minutes to go Ballynanty broke Aisling hearts when Ryan Earls headed in off a post after yet another telling contribution from Neil Wallace. Aisling now threw everything forward, forcing a series of corners & free-kicks but the clock beat them & Ballynanty Rovers had done enough to be crowned champions. Congratulations to them from everybody at Aisling Annacotty.

O'CONNOR BRACE HELPS AISLING ANNACOTTY TO LEAGUE GLORY
Aisling Annacotty were crowned Under 12 League champions last Friday night in Caherdavin with a hard fought victory over a well organised and hard working Caherdavin side. Played on a hard and bumpy surface both sides tried to play football in trying conditions. Aisling Annacotty playing against a strong breeze in the first half had most of the possession in the first half but found it hard to breakdown the Caherdavin back four who were well organised and kept the away team at bay. Aisling's best chance in the first half came when a beautiful floated corner by Niall O Shea was headed over from close in by Cian Hession. Aisling had another chance near the end of the first off when good passing from midfield duo Peader Collins and Conor Fleming, set up Evan O Connor and his effort just flew past the Caherdavin post with the goalkeeper beaten. Caherdavins best effort of the first half came from a free kick from Thomas Grimes which just went over with a longe range effort. The first half ended scoreless.
The second half Aisling came out of the blocks quicker than the home side and had plenty of possession but could not get the break through. The away teams efforts were rewarded when substitute Conor Hanrahan played a lovely pass in from the left wing which found Evan O Connor in the box and he turned his Caherdavin marker and blasted the ball into the right hand corner of the net. This goal encouraged the Aisling side who started to pass the ball around more and added to there opener when Mark Carmody who was another second half substitute crossed in from the right wing and found Evan O Connor who side footed the ball past the Caherdavin goalkeeper into the left corner of the net. Aisling Annacotty for the last ten minutes kept possession well and when Caherdavin pressed up field they were kept at bay by the excellent Jack Barry who broke up all there attacking play. When the final whiatle blew the Aisling Annacotty supporters celebrated there League victory. The cup will be presented to them after there last League match of the season against Mungret Regional next Wednesday night in Annacotty.

U13 Troy Cup Quarter-final
Killarney Celtic 2 - Aisling Annacotty 1
17th April 2010
Aisling Annacotty bowed out of this seasons national cup after an enthralling game in Killarney last saturday. The visitors started the match in very impressive style, passing the ball beautifully and created a gilt-edged chance in the first few minutes but Ronan Murphy just failed to get a clean strike on the ball & the danger passed. Killarney Celtic came strongly into the game with the outstanding Zaouil Hique a constant threat and the Aisling back four of Stuart Hoare, John Nicholas, Paddy Morrissey & Tom Morrissey working very hard to keep the scores level. Edward Doyle made a fantastic save on 20 minutes, diving full length to push the ball around the post after a deflection had wrong-footed him. Jack Cleary & Cian O'Brien worked tirelessly in the middle of he park for Aisling and the wide players, Conor Linehan and especially Brian Donovan saw lots of ball but were up against a very solid home defence. Half-time was welcomed by both sides on a very warm day in a match that was great to watch but energy-sapping to play in. Ten minures into the second half, Aisling Annacotty took the lead when Stuart Hoares ball into the box was headed on by John Nicholas and Brian Donovan flicked it past the keeper. The goal gave the visitors a massive lift and Ronan Murphy & Thomas Holmes up front continued to cause plenty of problems but Kllarney stood firm. Five minutes later they were level when John Fenton-Daly ran on to a ball over the top and, despite being closely challenged by Tom Morrissey, drove an unstoppable shot to the roof of the net. It was game on and Killarney now enjoyed a period of dominance and might have made it two when Zaouil Hique broke through on goal but was brilliantly denied by the alert Edward Doyle. The match was now end-to-end and Ronan Murphy flashed an effort just over the bar after great work by Andy La-Touche Cosgrove and Brian Donovan. In the cruellest of twists Kilarney won it and booked their place in the semi-final when a corner in the last minute of injury time was brilliantly headed home by Liam Kearney. This was a fantastic game and it would be unfair to pick out individuals in the Aisling side as all 12 who played were outstanding and all 17 members of this national cup squad can look back with pride on their excellent effort in this years competition.
Aisling Annacotty: Edward Doyle, Paddy Morrissey, John Nicholas,
Stuart Hoare, Tom Morrissey, Conor Linehan, Brian Donovan, Cian
O'Brien, Jack Cleary, Thomas Holmes, Ronan Murphy, Andy La-Touche

Under 12 National Cup Q/F
Aisling Annacotty 0 - St.Kevins Boys 1
17th April 2010
AISLING ANNACOTTY BOW OUT IN LAST EIGHT MATCH
Aisling Annacotty bowed out of the Under 12 National Cup last Saturday afternoon to a well drilled and skilful Dublin outfit in St Kevins Boys. Played in beautiful sunshine on a great surface played in front of a very large crowd both teams served up a passionate and entertaining match. The first half was a very tight affair with both defences coming out on top, St Kevins Boys who play a lovely style of football passing the ball from defence to midfield and onto there forward line could not get going in the first half as the homeside never gave them time and space on the ball. The main chances in the first half came from set pieces with both sides coming close to scoring. St Kevins had a freekick well saved by the Aisling goalkeeper Niall Sheehan and Aisling came even closer when a great freekick by Conor Fleming came off the crossbar. Aisling did most of the pressing at the end of the first half with a serious of corners from Niall O Shea and free kicks but just could not find the final touch from the home team. The teams changed over on a scoreline of 0 - 0.
From the start of the second half St Kevins Boys upped the tempo of there play and started to win the midfield battles. They had most of the possession and created a few chances both the well organised defence of the home team brilliantly anchored by Jack Barry and Niall O Shea kept them at bay. It was going to take something special to break the deadlock and that came when St Kevins were awarded a free kick 10 yards outside the box. They curled the freekick around the Aisling wall and even though Niall Sheehan was well positioned, he couldnt keep the well placed ball out of the net, to give the away team the lead and to send there supporters into celebrations. Aisling never gave up in getting an equaliser and made a few substitutions to try and freshen things up but found it hard to break down the St Kevins Boys defence. The game ended with the away team running out winners in a very entertaining match and now go onto to play Cherry Orchard of Dublin in the Semi Final.

Coonagh United 1 - Aisling Annacotty 4
Friday 9th April 2010
Played last Friday night Aisling Annacotty ran out comfortable winners of this entertaining match. Aisling Annacotty took the lead in the first half when a free kick by Niall O Shea was fisted out by the Coonagh Keeper who found Oisin Kelly who tapped the breaking ball into the empty net to open the scoring, The second came from from some very good midfield play which set Cian Hession down the left wing and his cross was met excellently by Oisin Kelly who anticipated the ball and volleyed the ball to the net. Both teams created chances and were unlucky not to add to the scoreline by half time. The second half the away team produced some excellent football on a poor pitch. The ever energetic Peader Collins in midfield put Evan O Connor through between the Coonagh defence and Evan held off the determined Coonagh Centre half to calmly finish off the move past the helpless Coonagh Keeper, to make it 3 - 0 to Aisling Annacotty. The fourth came with some good passing movement involving Conor Fleming set up Paul Sutton on the right side of the box and his cross come shot floated in all the way to the find the left top corner of the net, to make it 4 - 0 to the away side. Coonagh never gave up and got one back before the end when there substitute striker pounced on a ball in the Aisling defence and shot to the net. The match ended soon afterwards with the light fading with the visitors running out deserved winners on a scoreline of Coonagh United 1 Aisling Annacotty 4.

U12 Division 2
Geraldines 4 Aisling Annacotty
Friday 9th April 2010
Aisling showed their fighting qualities again in this thrilling match at Garryowen Green on Friday evening. For the third match in succession they were down 2 nil in the first half and came back to get a result.
The first half exchanges were relatively even but Geradlines took their chances to go two up at the break. The first was a high lob from outside the box following a spectacular close range save from Domhnaill Dooley in goal and a scrambled clearance. The second came a few minutes later from a well worked Geraldines attack.
Aisling dominated the second half but Geradlines were always dangerous on the break. 5 minutes in, Sean McBrierty scored following a trademark strong run from the middle of the field. Geraldines then score two goals from balls over the top to lead 4 - 1 with about 20 minutes to go. Another Sean McBrierty run from half way was finished by the goalkeeper barging Sean over in the box. Sean slotted the penalty calmly home. With ten minutes to go a great Jason Daly ball over the top was headed over the keeper by Shane Hogan to leave one in it. Geraldines had one more good chance, but the excellent Kevin Gleeson at centre half cleared off the line. Jason Daly was now tormenting Geraldines down the right flank and won a series of corners that were scrambled clear. With a couple a minutes to go an excellent corner was whipped in to the box by Declan Long and finished cooly by Shane Hogan.
TEAM Domhnaill Dooley, Eoghan Whittle, Alan Costelloe, Ian Coates, Kevin Gleeson, Declan Long, Sean McBrierty, Jason Daly, Shane Mullins, Cian Enright, Shane Hogan, Ben Crowley.

Aisling Junior A 3 – Ballananty Rovers 4
Thursday 8th April 2010
Players back from injury, a strong squad, a good intense warm up, a sunny evening and the scene was set for the Aisling team to continue their good league form. However we started with lead in our boots and paid dearly with Ballananty running in 2 gift wrapped goals. We decreased the deficit to one when Anthony Cusack controversially tapped in a Robbie Hammond strike. A neutral might have called it off side. However racked with guilt we decided to make the task even harder when we offered Ballananty another spring present in the form of a third goal. 1 – 3 at the break.
A coupe of orange slices complements of Jack Cusack, followed by a Dalton and Sullivan rant and Aisling came out a different side. Within 20 minutes Anthony Cusack got on the end of a Dan Goggin (back from injury) long throw to bring the score to 2 – 3. The side was re-shaped with a number of changes with Martin Byrnes and Jason Sheehan being replaced with Anto Mc Donald (back from injury) and Alan Quill. Within 10 minutes the sides were level. Dan Goggin rose bravely in a congested penalty area to head an Aidan Hurly free kick over the head of the advancing Ballananty keeper. 10K Ronan Smalle was replaced with Gordon Roe and the game was there for the taking but our generosity on the day knew no bounds. With 5 minutes to go we failed to clear our lines from a Ballananty long throw and ended up handing Ballananty an ugly winner.
Negatives – Brown Thomas gift vouchers would have sufficed
Positives – Great conviction and performance to turn around a poor first half. Fit squad available for selection. Nice kit
Team -, Dermot Dineen, Dan Goggin , Des Keenan, Martin Byrnes, Aidan Hurley, Alan Quill, Robbie Hammond, Ronan Smalle, Anthony Cusack, Jason Sheehan, Shane Murphy, Steve Goggin, Colin Scanlon, Derek Hogan, Anto McDonald

Aisling Junior A 3 – Janesboro FC 2
Sunday 4th April 2010
The Easter Bunny brought a mixed bag of emotions to Annacotty on Sunday morning. The side had a familiar face back in the line up with Robert Dalton fitting in comfortably in the centre half role. Aisling started the game in fine form with some solid defending and open attacking play that forced some early corners. Management would be pleased with the set piece movement of the Aisling players that led to Jason Sheehan getting on the end of each set piece. It was only a matter of time before Aisling broke the deadlock, it came from an unlikely source with Robbie Hammond taking out the driver and blasting the ball into the boro net from 25 yards. Some say he has the best technique in the club! Jason Sheehan had a chance to double the lead within 10 minutes when another well worked corner was driven over from 6 yards. Janesboro played their way into the game and with 10 minutes to go until half time equalised through Christy O’Neill.
Aisling’s Anthony Cusack was replaced at half time through injury by Colin Scanlon but with 5 minutes gone into the second half, Aisling were down to ten men when Dalton got a straight red, but as one wise man said “you have to sleep at night”. Aisling reorganised and with 10 men Ronan Smalle broke his 9 goal seasonal duct when he broke free of his marker and with a cracking drive from a tight angle put the ball past the Janesboro net minder. 10 minutes later Boro equalised through a James Hayes flying header but with Des Keenan not putting a foot wrong, Aidan Hurley cool on the ball, Robbie Hammond and Martin Byrnes hard work rate, Jason Sheehan and Steve Goggin marshalling the midfield, Alan Quill supporting the front running of Colin Scanlon and the ubiquitous Ronan Smalle - there was always a chance of Aisling getting something further from the game. It came in the form of a dubious penalty decision in the last minute of the game. Colin Scanlon stepped up and won the game for Aisling. This puts Aisling into fourth place in the league with Ballananty Rovers at home this Thursday and Mungret Regional away on Sunday.

Corbally United B 2 Aisling Annacotty B 2
2nd April 2010
For the second league match in a row, Aisling Annacotty 12b’s recovered from an early 2 nil deficit, in this case to share the points with Corbally at Athlunkard on Friday evening. Corbally were two up after ten minutes. They capitalised on a mix up in defence for the first, but the second was as sweet a strike as you will see to the bottom corner from 20 yards or so out. Aisling came in to the game from that point on and got one back a few minutes before half time with a Shane Hogan finish after a very strong run from Sean McBrierty in midfield. The second half was all Aisling. Shots from Sean McBrierty and Jason Daly shaved the posts before Shane Griffin finished well from the left. The effort was disallowed however for a very marginal offside. The Aisling defence of Ben Belazi, Colum Carroll, Ian Coates and Eoghan Whittle dealt decisively with the few breaks that Corbally had in the second half and, with about five minutes to go, Cian Enright finished well from an excellent Cameron Stephensen corner for a thoroughly deserved equaliser. Aisling continued to press for a winner in the dark for the last few minutes without success. It was an interesting scheduling decision by the LDSL to put the match on directly against the Munster Leinster clash in Thomond Park and in the dark.
TEAM: Dohmnall Dooley, Emmet Butler, Ben Belazi, Colum Carroll, Ian Coates, Jason Daly, Shane Griffin, Sean McBrierty, Cian Enright, Shane Hogan, Noel Brennan, Eoghan Whittle, Cameron Stephenson.

Under 12 Premier
Corbally United 0 Aisling Annacotty 2
2nd April, 2010
Played last Friday night in Athlunkard, both these teams served up an entertaining game. Aisling with the aid of the breeze in the first half took the game to Corbally from the start and had a lot of posession but a well organised Corbally defence held them out until a free kick was awarded to the away team half way through the first half. Niall O Shea then unleashed an unstoppable free kick from 30 yards out which flew into the top corner of the net giving the Corbally goalkeeper no chance. Aisling added to there lead when Cian Hession was put through on the left side of midfield and sent over an excellent cross which fell to Niall Loughran who calmly side footed it to the back of the net, to make the score 2 - 0 to the Aisling boys. The half ended on the same scoreline.
The second half Corbally saw more of the ball and the game became more of a midfield battle in the early stages of the half. Both teams had chances to add to the scoreline with Aisling pressing from the left side and one of these balls in by Cian Hession was met by Evan O Connor at the near post but his effort was unlucky to just go buy the near post. Aisling had a number of corners to reward there possession but good deliveries by Peader Collins and Niall O Shea were cleared by a strong Corbally defence, who played well throughout. Corbally went close soon after when a mix up in the Aisling defence left Dean Kirwan through on the Aisling keeper Niall Sheehan who saved very well from close range to keep the Corbally side out. The match ended soon afterwards with the away team keeping up there challenge for the Premier League on a scoreline of Corbally United 0 Aisling Annacotty 2.

Aisling Junior A 0 – Fairview Rangers 1
Sunday 28th March 2010
The A team will be very disappointed with how this game turned out on Sunday morning. With Stephen Goggin and Jason Sheehan holding in a 4 -3 -3 formation Aisling controlled possession and created some good scoring opportunities with Anthony Cusack and Alan Quill unlucky not to score.. Aisling were denied two first half penalties with the same players Alan Quill and Anthony clearly being fouled in the Fairview box. Although it could be argued Fairview could pose the same argument in the second half, the fact is the dynamic of the game would have changed. Fairview created a good scoring opportunity from a corner near the end of the first half but the shot was brilliantly touched over by the Aisling net minder Dermot Dineen. The teams went in level at half time but 20 minutes into the second half a ball over the top caught the Aisling defence flat footed and we found ourselves 1 down and chasing the game. With two injuries Aisling had to reorganise but with 10 minutes to go Anthony Cusack ran on to a defensive mistake only to steer his header into the hands of the Fairview keeper. A draw would have been a fair result. Aisling now face Janesboro and Ballananty at home in their next two league games.

Aisling Junior A 1 – Carew Park 0
Sunday 21st March 2010
Aisling Annacotty Premier Team brought their current league from into the Lawson Cup on Sunday morning, for the second week running Aisling overcame Carew Park, this time to book a place in the next round of the Lawson Cup. Despite the poor playing surface, something the sun kissed Robbie Dalton was not shy to point out, Aisling played some good football and created some good passing moves to open up the Carew defence, it was not long before a well worked move saw Colin Scanlon flick the ball over the on rushing Carew net minder Gordon Stewart. While Carew Park had the majority of the possession Aisling looked very comfortable with “text book” defending from the back 4 of Dan Goggin, Des Keenan, Martin Byrnes and Aidan Hurley. This gave Aisling the platform to pick out chances on the counter, with Jason Sheehan and Anthony Cusack coming close on numerous occasions before the final whistle.
With our two keepers out through injury, Anto McDonald went between the sticks and put in a solid performance – he might consider the career move?

MUNGRET REGIONAL 0 AISLING ANNACOTTY AFC 0
SATURDAY 20TH MARCH 2010
Played last Saturday afternoon in beautiful sunshine in Mungret, this top of the table clash proved to be a tense and tight affair. Aisling Annacotty did most of the pressing in the first half but were met by a determined and well drilled defence by Mungret Regional. When they did get through and created chances the Mungret Regional goalkeeper Clyde O Connell kept them at bay and pulled off some fantastic saves all during the first half. Aisling Annacotty were a bit flat in the match after there heroics last week in there National Cup match v Mount Merrion.
The second half followed the same pattern with Aisling Annacotty having most of the possession but finding it hard to breakdown a determined Mungret Regional defence. Both teams created chances in the second half with both goalkeepers making well timed saves to keep the match level. So the match ended in a no score draw and both teams will have to meet in Annacotty for the return match which could decide where the Under 12 Premier League title will rest for this season.

UNDER 12 NATIONAL CUP LAST SIXTEEN MATCH
SATURDAY 13TH MARCH 2010
AISLING ANNACOTTY AFC 2 MOUNT MERRION 0
Aisling Annacotty reached the quarter final of the Under 12 National Cup last Saturday afternoon with an entertaining and hard fought win over Dublin District League team Mount Merrion. Aisling Annacotty lost to the same opponents at the same stage last year in Dublin and were determined to reverse this loss this year. Played in front of a large and vocal home support in Annacotty the home team brought the match to there fancied Dublin opponents from the start. Aisling never let Mount Merrion settle on the ball and the away side could not get there passing game going with the tough tackling and relentless efoort displayed by the home team. Aisling Annacotty took the lead when a beautifully floated free kick from Niall O Shea was met by the impressive Oisin Kelly who rose above the Mount Merrion defenders and headed the ball passed the Mount Merrion keeper. Aisling added to there scoreline five minutes after when a fabulous corner by Conor Fleming was met by Team Captain Peader Collins who thundered a header passed the helpless Mount Merrion keeper to make it 2 - 0. Aisling Annacotty kept up the pressure on the away team and although Mount Merrion created a few chances the home keeper Niall Sheehan was well placed to deal with any balls that came at him. Aisling turned at half time 2 - 0 up.
The second half was a midfield battle with Mount Merrion doing most of the pressing and some great tackling and defending by all the Aisling team. All though they had most of the possession in the second half Mount Merrion could not break down the well organised home team who still posed a treat going forward with the ever energetic Oisin Kelly and Evan O Connor going through a great workload between them. The backline for Aisling Annacotty Sean McBrearty,Mark Carmody, Naill O Shea and sweeper Jack Barry really performed well in the second half and never gave there opponents anytime on the ball and cleared everything that was thrown at them. Helped on by the large crowd in attendance Aisling Annacotty held out for a great and well deserved victory on a scoreline of 2 - 0. In the quarter finals they will meet Dublin favourites for the National Cup St.Kevins Boys at home in Annacotty and if the Aisling Annacotty team show the same determination and effort in the this match it should be another great game.

Under 11 Premier - 13th March 2010
Mungret Regional – 2 : Aisling Annacotty – 3
Aisling Annacotty regained top spot in the Under 11 Premier League with a deserved victory over fellow title contenders Mungret Regional.
Played in glorious sunshine in Mungret on Saturday morning, Mungret Regional started brightly and dominated first half possession. However the Aisling defence of Shane Carmody, Daniel Enright, Eoghan Carew and Dara Neville were outstanding and managed to keep the amount of goal scoring chances created by the Mungret forward line to a minimum. Behind them Sean Fitzpatrick made a couple of outstanding saves to leave the sides level at half time.
The second half turned out to be a different story however, with the Aisling Annacotty team beginning to settle and gradually taking control of the midfield exchanges where Daragh O’Leary and the tireless Daniel Hession began to dominate. After 10 minutes of the restart Niall Loughran ran onto a Dara Neville free kick and coolly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper to give Aisling the lead. This seemed to give the away team more confidence and they pushed forward in search of a second. This arrived shortly afterwards when a long shot from Darran Golden O’Mahoney caught the Mungret goal keeper off his line.
At this stage Aisling were totally dominating the game and with 10 minutes remaining following good approach work from Mark O’Dwyer and Alan Nicholas, Niall Loughran, with a superb strike, got his second and his team’s third of the match to end the game as a contest.
With minutes remaining Mungret Regional were awarded a penalty, which was duly converted by Clyde O’Connell and with the last kick of the game Mungret grabbed a further consolation goal.
This result leaves Aisling Annacotty one point ahead of Mungret and a game less played, and in pole position for the league title.

U13 Premier League: Mungret 1 Aisling Annacotty 1 - 13th March 2010
Aisling Annacotty & Mungret played out an entertaining 1-all draw in this top of the table clash last saturday. As usual with these sides the game was tight and competitive with some nice football being played but few clear cut chances. All the goal scoring action came in the final 5 minutes of the first half with Mungret taking the lead when a defensive header fell nicely for Byron who drilled it in the bottom corner giving Edward Doyle no chance. Aisling hit back immediately and Jack Cleary's ball across the box picked out Tom Morrissey who finished cooly. Earlier two magnificient free kicks from Conor Linehan brought fine saves from the Mungret keeper and Brian Donovan blazed over after good work by Cian O'Brien. Mungret had their spells of dominance too particularly in the second half when Edward Doyle was in sparkling form to deny Jack Harrington and Ronan Coughlan. Both sides were worth a point but,in truth, it is probably Ballynanty the other title challengers who are happiest with the result. Best for Aisling on the day were Kieran Long, Conor Linehan and Ronan Murphy.
Aisling Annacotty: Edward Doyle, John Nicholas, Stuart Hoare, Paddy Morrissey, Kieran Long, Brian Donovan, Jack Cleary, Conor Linehan, Tom Morrissey, Ronan Murphy, Cian O'Brien, Shane Doyle.

Premier League
Aisling Junior A 4 - Wembley Rovers 1
Sunday 7th March 2010
Aisling Annacotty Premier Team are making steady progress up the Premier League despite having an injury list St John's would be proud of. Aisling started the brighter and should have a few goals with the first 15 minutes of the game, however like so often happens Wembley scored against the run of play, a mix up between the Aisling defence allowed Wembley in for a very soft opening goal. Aisling did not panic and continued to play their passing game that lead to the equalizer. Within 10 minutes Anthony "Q" Cusack was taken down in the box and the spot kick was put away with some confidence by Colin Scanlon. After the break and after a few calm words of advice down from their spiritual leader Robert Dalton, Aisling dominated possession and increased their lead through Gordo Roe. Aisling had to soak up some pressure from Wembley who pushed forward for the equalizer; however some good movement and patterns of attack play saw Anthony Cusack slot home the third. Robbie Hammond replaced Gordon Roe with 20 minutes to go and had a fine introduction to the game; combining with Martin Byrnes on the left hand side they caused Wembley endless problems. Dermot Dineen made a fine save to his bottom left hand side to deny Wembley but the inform Cusack (sporting a new hair cut for the day) ended the contest when he combined with Colin Scanlon for his second and Aisling's fourth of the game.
It was good to see Aidan Hurley play his first 90 minutes after coming back from a long term injury.

U13 Troy Cup: Aisling Annacotty 2 - Fairview 1
6th March 2010
Aisling Annacotty had a narrow but deserved win over local rivals Fairview to book a place in the last 8 of the national cup. The game was tense & scrappy especially in the first half as both sides showed signs of nerves and found it difficult to cope with a congested midfield. Jack Cleary was one of the few in action to show some composure & purpose in the early stages and his cross-field ball to Brian Donovan set the winger away after 20 minutes to win a corner for Aisling. Conor Linehan swung in a great ball and Stuart Hoare was on hand to prod home the opening goal. Both sides were better in the second period but it was the home team that increased their advantage after 10 minutes. Tom Morrissey was excellent at left back all day and his storming run down the left set up Ronan Murphy who knocked it into the path of Thomas Holmes who produced a clinical finish to the bottom corner. Fairview knew they had to really have a go now and the game became very open and stretched. Ronan Murphy broke free again and might have shot himself but squared for Brian Donovan whose rasping shot went just over. Faieview battled back with great heart but Edward Doyle in the Aisling net was not beaten until almost the last kick of the game when a lovely ball over the top was brilliantly finished to the net. Best for Aisling were Tom Morrissey, Jack Cleary and Conor
Linehan while special mention should also go to substitutes Thomas Holmes Tom Ryan and Daniel Brazil wh all made a difference when introduced.
Aisling Annacotty: Edard Doyle, Stuart Hoare, Kieran Long, Tom Morrissey, Shane Doyle, Brian Donovan, Cian O'Brien, Andy La Touche-Cosgrove, Jack Cleary, Ronan Murphy, Conor Linehan, Thomas Holmes, Tom Ryan, Daniel Brazil, Evan Enright.

UNDER 12 PREMIER LEAGUE
6TH MARCH 2010
AISLING ANNACOTTY AFC A 5 REGIONAL FC 0
Played last Saturday morning in Annacotty in beautiful sunshine these two teams who went head to head last year for the Premier League were paired again
and served up a very entertaining game. The home team had the better of the early exchanges in some great passing movements and opened affairs when a well placed pass by Oisin Kelly in behind the Regional backline put Cian Hession through and he cooly slotted the ball past the Regional goalkeeper to put the home team 1 - 0. Aisling kept pressing and a well worked move between Evan O Connor and Oisin Kelly set up Paul Sutton at the back post who scrambled the ball home from close range. Regional kept plugging away and had a few opportunities to get a goal back mainly through Free Kicks, but were unable to find the net. They were also hindered by a well organised Aisling defence marshalled by Jack Barry and Niall O Shea. The Referee blew for half time with the home team 2 - 0 to the good.
The second half started with the home team still doing most of the pressing and added to the scoreline when a breaking ball fell outside the Regional area and Conor Fleming shot powerfully to the corner of the net giving the Regional keeper no chance and making ths score 3 - 0 to the home team. Both teams made plenty of substitutions after this goal. The third goal took the wind out of Regional and the home team opened up with some great play from the two forwards Evan O Connor and Oisin Kelly and some great runs from defence by Niall O Shea. The fourth came from a well struck corner by Conor Fleming who found Peader Collins who rose over the Regional defence and headed the ball against an unfortunate Regional defender who deflected it to the net. The fifth came when some inter play between Evan O Connor and Oisin Kelly lead to Oisin Kelly having a shot from the edge of the area and the ball flew past the Regioanl keeper to make it 5 - 0 to the home team. The referee blew shortly afterwards with the home team running out winners on a scoreline of 5 - 0.
Aisling Annacotty Team: Niall Sheehan, Mark Carmody, Paddy Humprhies, Niall O Shea, Jack Barry, Cian Hession, Paul Sutton, Peader Collins, Conor Fleming, Evan O Connor, Oisin Kelly, David Madden, Conor Hanrahan, Donal McNamee, Shane Quigley.

Under 12 – Division 2
Aisling Annacotty 3 - Lisnagry 2
6th March 2010
Aisling eventually came on top in a hard fought and entertaining match played in Annacotty on Saturday afternoon.
Aisling started brightly with a number of well worked attacks down both flanks with Jason Daly, Sean McBrierty and Sean Corcoran prominent in the early stages. The Lisnagry defence coped well and on a counterattack after ten minutes capitalised on a mix up in the Aisling defence to go one up through Conor Myers. Lisnagry dominated the next fifteen minutes. They went two up with good quick passing out of defence and a pintpoint cross from the right wing to David Kennedy whose shot left Andrew Chan in the Aisling goal with no chance. Two spectacular sliding tackles from Ben Belazi in the Aisling box kept his team in the game and a scrambled goal by Shane Mullins before half time was crucial in getting Aisling back in the game.
The home side were on top for a lot of the second half, but Lisnagry continued to counter attack well. Coum Carroll in cetral defence for Aisling began to sweep up everything in his penalty area and distirbute it effectively through Sean McBrierty and Ian Coates in central midfield and on to Jason Daly and Shane Mullins on the wings. Ten minutes in to the half a perfect pass from Jason Daly to Shane Hogan on the right led to a Sean McBrierty equaliser. Late in the half Lisnagry had a strong claim for a penalty and shortly afterwards Aisling scored a peach of a winner with Jason Daly releasing Sean McBrierty on the right. Sean crossed well to Shane Hogan who calmly slotted the ball to the net. At the death,Sean McBrierty had the ball in the net again. The goal was disallowed as Sean Corcoran who had broken stongly through the central defence was ajudged to have fouled the keeper.
This was the second excellent tight match between both teams this season and a third is in store in the first round of the cup.

20 February 2010 Athlunkard 12.00 KO
Corbally United 3 Aisling Annacotty 6
The Athlunkard match started with a strong challenge by Corbally, resulting in Aaron beating the visitor's goalkeeper with a well taken shot to the top of the Aisling goal. Significant pressure by Aisling and good defensive work by Ben Crowley over the next ten minutes led to Kevin Gleeson's equalising goal. Aisling continued to dominate for the rest of the half, leading to two goals from Sean Power, the first after a fine midfield pass from Declan Long. A late surge by Corbally resulted in Colin Koyce's shot just missing the right post.
The second half began with Declan scoring for Aisling. Despite a lot of possession by the Aisling forwards over the next twenty minutes, no goal followed after some fine goal-keeping from Corbally's Jack Fitzgibbons. Strong Corbally play by Mark Hogan, Eoghan Hegarty and Ryan Barrett led to Ben O'Brien's goal. A few minutes later Daragh Crehan scored after a solo-run, to give Aisling a 5-2 lead, but Corbally responded within minutes with a well worked goal from Colin Koyce. Declan finished the half as he started with his second goal in the last minute. Genuine shake hands and applause from both teams completed the encounter.

FAIRVIEW RANGERS 0 AISLING ANNACOTTY A 1
Aisling Annacotty kept up there challenge for League honours this season with a hard fought victory over a very determined Fairview team last Saturday morning.
Played in the Fairgreen on a lovely crisp morning these two teams served up a great game, full of effort and determination. Aisling Annacotty had the most of the possession in the first half, but found it hard to breakdown the defence of Fairview who were well served by there outstanding Centre Halfs who kept Aisling at bay. The best chance in the first half fell to Oisin Kelly, who got the ball just outside the box and went past a few Fairview defenders before rounding the Fairview goalkeeper before the Fairview defence got back and forced his shot on goal just wide. Another chance came from some determined work by Evan O Connor on the right who turned the Fairview defender and hit a great shot which missed the far post by inches. Fairview had a couple od chances themselves but some great defending by Nial O Shea, David Madden and Jack Barry kept them at bay.
The second half started with Aisling Annacotty having the majority of possession but a determinrd Fairview team chasing down every ball and pressing the Aisling midfield broke down the away teams attacks and turned defence into attack on a number of occasions, without success. Both teams made substitutions in the second half and the match was heading for stalemate, until Aisling Annacottys Centre Half Niall O Shea won a ball on the half way line and carried the ball at Fairview before unleashing a great shot which found the left corner of the net to give the vistors the lead. CAHERDAVIN CELTIC 0 – AISLING ANNACOTTY 4
Caherdavin Celtic entertained Aisling Annacotty at the Greenhills on Saturday morning in a vital league game between two teams in second and third positions in the league. After an entertaining encounter it was Aisling Annacotty who came out on top with a comfortable 4 – 0 win.
Aisling Annacotty started the stronger and quickly settled into the game. With 10 minutes on the clock Aisling took a deserved lead when a Mark O’Dwyer corner from the right was powerfully headed home by the in rushing Dara Neville. Aisling created further chances but failed to capitalise on some good approach work by Darren Coughlan and Daragh O’Leary. Caherdavin goalie Michael Quinn also produced some fine saves to keep his side in touch and leave Aisling only one goal to the good at half time.
Aisling started the second half brightly and after five minutes doubled their lead when, after a period of intense pressure, a Daniel Hession shot found the back of the net. At this stage the Aisling midfield were dominant and with full backs Conor Doyle and Rory Cusack pushing forward at every opportunity, it was only a matter of time before they increased their lead.
Midway through the half, following good work from Gerard Clancy, Mark O’Dwyer found the net with a shot from the edge of the box. Aisling created further chances but yet again it was the Caherdavin goalie who kept them from increasing their lead. With minutes remaining however Alan Nicholas found space on the left and his cross field pass found Darren Coughlan whose low drive found the bottom corner.

Aisling Annacotty 2 Kilmallock 2 (Aisling won 3-2 on pens)
Two Limerick sides will meet in the last 16 of the Troy cup after Aisling Annacotty edged past Kilmallock on penalties to set up a mouth-watering clash with Fairview Rangers. This was a fiercely contested and tight game played at a ferocious pace throughout and while the standard of football was not always brilliant the excitement levels never dropped. Aisling fell behind to a penalty after a harsh looking decision against John Nicholas but the finish from the visiting striker was emphatic. Aisling responded well and Cian O'Brien set Tom Morrissey away down the left and his ball across the box was only just scrambled away before Ronan Murphy could finish. Aisling fell two behind just before the break somewhat against the run of play when a long ball over the top caught the home defence napping and the finish to the bottom corner gave Edward Doyle no chance. Andy La-Touche Cosgrove came on for the second half and his pace made an immediate difference. The home side were dominant and created four great chances in 15 minutes, scoring from two of them. The first came when Jack Cleary robbed the ball on the left side of the area and played a great ball into Brian Donovan who squeezed it in to the bottom corner. The goal really lifted the home side and when Conor Linehan swang in a corner moments later Ronan Murphy produced a fantastic leap and header that went just over. Aisling continued to press and Stuart Hoare won a free kick 25 yards out after some great work from Paddy Morrissey and Brian Donovan. Conor Linehan stepped up and crashed a great strike off the bar that bounced down on the line and was scrambled away for another corner. Conor swung it over again and Stuart Hoare was on hand to blast it to the roof of the net. Aisling were rampant now but, to their great credit, Kilmallock got back into it and struck the woodwork themselvs after a quick break down the left. Both sides gave everything in the extra time but penalties were needed to decide it and Jack Cleary, Stuart Hoare and Conor Linehan scored for Aisling while Edward Doyle made a fantastic save to give the hme side the victory. Best for Aisling in a great team effort were Conor Lenihan, Andy La-Touche Cosgrove and Stuart Hoare.

A large crowd witnessed an amazing match in Killonan on a bright, brisk morning last Saturday. As scintillating a match hasn’t been witnessed since the Champions League final of 2005. Corbally United played some exquisite football in the first half to hold a three goal lead at the break only to end up sharing the spoils with an Aisling Annacotty team full of spirit, character and determination.
AC Milan, never mind Liverpool, could have lived with Corbally in the opening period. William Henn was orchestrating play from the hole behind the potent strike force and it was no surprise to see the home net bulge three times. It could have been more except for Luke Maher doing just enough to prevent a Corbally attacker scoring. Harry Healy had his hands full on the left flank but pit in some timely tackles and used the ball wisely when in space. James Kelly also made a telling contribution in stemming the Corbally flow, and launched a few attacks that could have yielded greater reward. Daragh Gallagher was ploughing a lone furrow up front and was forced to drop deep collect the ball and help relieve the pressure on his defence.
After the interval it was different affair. Aisling came out of the blocks with fire in their bellies. Sarah Shortt epitomized the Annacotty team’s grit, chasing back forty yards to win possession, and turn defence into attack. Constant pressure yielded a free kick on the edge of the Corbally box. Never a good idea with Daragh Linehan in the opposition ranks. The midfielder stepped up to notch his seventh goal of the season. Now it was Game On! A strange goal followed. From a throw in St John Dundon scored with a header from a headed one-two with Bryan Sheehan. Aisling had the bit between their teeth and driven from the back by Sam Foley and Shane Morgan, they were testing Burke in the Corbally goal. Cullen at centre back was called on to use his defensive prowess on a number of occasions to repel the Mulcairsiders. At the other end of the pitch Gearoid Hartnett kept the Corbally strikers quiet, while James Halas marshaled his area and swept up any scraps that escaped Hartnett.
The equalizer duly arrived. Brian Cunningham threaded the leather into the danger zone.. Michael Griffin shielding the ball, held off two Corbally defenders before rolling the ball invitingly for Sean Malone, arriving like a steam engine, to rifle into the top of the net.
The game wasn’t over yet. It required a Bobby Moore like tackle by Paul Koumah to prevent a Corbally attacker through on goal and ensure Aisling got rewards for their hard work.
Aisling Annacotty: Gearoid Hartnett, Luke Maher, Harry Healy, Shane Morgan, Sam Foley, St John Dundon, Brian Cunningham, James Kelly, James Halas, Sarah Shortt, Daragh Gallagher, Sean Malone, Daragh Linehan, Michael Griffin, Paul Koumah, Bryan Sheehan.

AISLING ANNACOTTY AFC 4 GLENCAR (DONEGAL) 1
Played last Saturday morning in Annacotty this match turned out to be one of the most entertaining matches of the season so far. Two very well matched sides kicked off on a lovely surface and entertained the large crowd that turned up from both Limerick and Donegal. Both teams went at it from the start with some lovely flowing movements from both teams. Both teams had possession of the ball at various stages but could not breakdown the defences of both teams. The away side took the lead slightly against the run of play, when a great ball in from the left side split the home defence and on running Glencar centre forward, who was a handfull all day beat the on rushing Aisling goalkeeper and powered the ball into the to give Glencar the lead and send the away supporters into celebration. Aisling did not drop there heads and went back at Glencar straight away and were rewarded when a great flowing movement from defence to Evan O Connor who set up Paul Sutton on the right who picked out Cian Hession in the box and Cian calmly slotted the ball past the Glencar goalkeeper to level things up at 1- 1. The first half ended soon afterwards with both sides on level pegging and nothing between them.
The second half was end to end with both teams creating chances. The turning point in the match came when the strong and speedy centre forward for Glencar out sprinted the Aisling defence and powered shots at the Aisling goals only for two superb saves from Niall Sheehan in goals for the homeside, one of which he punched onto the crossbar to deny Glencar. The second goal from Aisling came when a long ball from the excellent Niall O Shea from defence released Cian Hession on the left and he beat a few of the Glencar defenders before blasting the ball into the top corner of the net, to give him his second goal of the game to great cheers from the home supporters. This goal spurred the homeside on again and the third came soon afterwards when Conor Fleming put Paul Sutton through on the right side and his shot was saved well by the Glencar goalkeeper but the ball broke to Evan O Connor who calmly passed the ball into the net. The fourth goal came when another shot from the Captain of Aisling Peader Collins was only partially saved by the Glencar goalkeeper and the ever aware Oisin Kelly slotted the ball into the empty net to make it 4 - 1 to the homeside. The match ended soon afterwards and both teams were given a great reception when they left the field by the large crowd in attendance. Aisling Annacotty are now through to the last 16 of the National Cup for the second year in succession.

U-16 Division 1 League Match
Aisling Annacotty B 2 Fairview Rangers B 2
The best wine was kept until last in terms of drama as Aisling secured the
U16 Division 1 title at a foggy Annacotty on Saturday.
Needing just a point to win the league, Aisling fell behind when Kevin O'Shaugnessy rounded Aisling keeper David Pond in the 25th minute.
Fairview dominated the first half and well deserved their half-time lead.
In the second half, they continued to contain Aisling in midfield but failed to penetrate the Aisling defence. However, with plenty of motivational support from the sideline, Aisling stayed in touch and came more into the game as the half progressed. Iain Foley and Conor McCarthy both went close for Aisling, while at the other end, the Aisling back four restricted Fairview to a number of off-target efforts from outside the box. Fairview than had two close range chances to wrap it up and saw one of their efforts hit the top of the cross bar. With the game entering the last 10 minutes, Dermot Kavanagh made a number of incisive through passes which Graham Power and Iain Foley nearly converted. Then in the 75th minute, a Kavanagh shot from the left went in off the far post to send the home team supporters ecstatic. To their credit, Fairview kept their heads and with 2 minutes of normal time left, the Aisling defence failed to deal with a Fairview corner and Jamie Ryan fired home to give Fairview the lead. It looked curtains for Aisling after that but there was a final twist in added time when Fairview failed to clear a cross and Graham Power shot home to give the title to Aisling. This was a fitting climax to Brendan McAteer's era of solid stewardship of this team since U-10 level.
Congratulations to Aisling and well done to a sporting Fairview who maintained the pressure until Aisling's last game of the season.
