On a blisthering sunny afternoon , Aisling recorded a strong victory over a determined Shannon team played in perfect conditions. A bright start by Aisling was rewarded when Conor Nicholas pounched on a great through ball by Conor Lyons to slot home a deserved first goal. Undeterred, Shannon equalised through a penalty kick. Thereafter, Aisling took the game to Shannon and with a great pass from Shane Donegan and a super strike by Alex O'Donoghue, restored Aislings lead. Shannon quickly responded with a super strike from the edge of the area to leave the game delicately poised at two all. Shortly before half time Same Burns gave the away team the advantage by neatly slotting home from close range. James Regan Magnier with some fine saves ensured that Aisling went in at half time leading 3-2.
Aisling started the second half strongly and with the strong defence of Cian Mulcahy, Conall McAteer,Dara Cullimore , David Moloney and Daniel Minihan ensuring that chances were at a premium for Shannon. The midfield pairing of Shane Donegan and Conor Lyons strarted to dicate the play and with Sean Feeney and Ciairn Barry showing neat play on the flanks , further strikes from Conor Nicholas(2), Alex O'Donoghue, Sean Feeney , Ciaran Barry and Dara Cullimore ensured a comfortable win for Aisling in a keenly fought encounter. Sam Burns,Niall O'Brien and Cathal Carew toiled relentlessly throughout to ensure that Aisling retained their advantage to the end.
