History of Mayo Football

An incident which became known as ‘The Peter Duke Affair’ had, albeit indirectly, a big bearing on the development of Mayo football in an organized and planned fashion. The group of men who came together in the Autumn of 1953 to form the Mayo Association Football League was responding to the need to provide organized football within the county.
